What is skin tightening?

Skin tightening refers to a nonsurgical aesthetic treatment that helps improve the appearance of your skin. As you get older, your body produces less collagen, which is a protein that gives your skin its strength and elasticity, and the fat under your skin begins to fade. This lack of support causes your skin to fall, creating a creepy look that leads to the development of lines and wrinkles.

To help you look and feel your best, Dr. Galope offers a number of different treatments to help tighten your skin.

What is Sylfirm?

Sylfirm is an aesthetic tool that uses radiofrequency energy to tighten and rejuvenate your skin. The energy has the ability to stimulate the production of collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid to improve to improve skin tone and refresh your look.

Dr. Galope uses Sylfirm to improve lines and wrinkles on your face, as well as unsightly cellulite. The best part is that you only need one treatment to get results.

What are the Risks involved in Sylfirm?

Sylfirm is an excellent skin lifting and tightening non-surgical treatment that is both safe and effective.  Fortunately, the risks, complications, and adverse events associated with Sylfirm are rare.  The most common side effects to be expected with the treatment are swelling and bruising. The next most common occurrence is small raised bumps on the skin that called dermal papules.  Dermal papules usually disappear on their own within a few days, though they may persist for a few weeks.

As with any aesthetic procedure, you must choose your treating cosmetic physician carefully based on their experience, skill, knowledge, and most importantly their natural artistic vision.

What is BTL Exilis Ultra?

BTL Exilis Ultra is a laser skin tightening tool that combines radiofrequency with ultrasound technology to tighten your skin by stimulating the production of collagen and elastin.

The BTL Exilis Ultra is gentle and can be used on a number of different body parts, including:

To get the best results, you may need as many as four treatments set at one- to two-week intervals. Dr. Galope will develop a treatment plan before you get started, so you know what to expect.

Are there side effects involved with BTL Exilis Ultra?

“The Exilis Ultra is BTL’s newest and best device for skin tightening and fat burning. It is a unique treatment that combines radiofrequency and ultrasound technology. It is an extremely safe, risk free procedure that typically yields great results. During treatment, your skin may feel hot and become a little red, but it is harmless” says Kevin Haney, MD on realself.com.

What is NeoGen PSR?

The NeoGen PSR uses nitrogen energy technology to create a plasma gas that heats both the surface and the deep layers of your skin, stimulating the production of collagen and elastin.

NeoGen PSR is gentle enough to use on your eyelids and around your eyes to treat droopy lids and crow’s feet and give you an enhanced look.

Dr. Galope will develop a personalized treatment plan based on your aesthetic goals, but you may only need one treatment with NeoGen PSR to get the look you want. Results of treatment can last a year or longer.

Is NeoGen PSR Safe?

Semanticscholar.org issued the following statement in 2007 regarding NeoGen PSR following a clinical study: “Plasma skin regeneration delivers energy to the skin through plasma pulses induced by passing radiofrequency into nitrogen gas. Single-treatment, high-energy, 1-pass treatments have been demonstrated to achieve good results with an excellent safety profile.”

And, an article in 2018 in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology stated in conclusion to another study: “Nitrogen plasma skin regeneration is effective and safe for the treatment of mildtomoderate periorbital wrinkles and darkening.”

After the first 6 treatments which are normally given once every 4-6 weeks, results tend to last up to 12 weeks before maintenance is required.

While it really depends on individual needs and goals, there are a few methods and technologies that doctors generally say are the best and most effective. These include: radiofrequency, ultrasound skin tightening, and microneedling with other technologies. There’s also Botox and fillers that are effective. The bottom line is, with so much non-invasive or non-surgical technologies for skin tightening out there, no one needs facelifts anymore.

While results will always vary with individuals, doctors have been reporting that results from Sylfirm have lasted as long as 3 years.

Doctors report that you can expect results from Exilis Ultra to last approximately 2 years if you maintain a healthy diet and exercise.

What is the CoolPeel Tetra CO2 Laser?

A CO2 (carbon dioxide) laser is an ablative laser that sends intense infrared light to the top layers of the skin. It is used to get rid of sun damage, aging, scars, wrinkles, and harmless skin growths like moles and skin tags that are visible on the skin. CO2 laser treatment is a popular way to resurface the skin because it causes little pain, can be done quickly and makes a big difference in the quality of the skin without the risks of surgery.

CoolPeel is a revolutionary next-generation Tetra CO2 Laser technology that gives you all the benefits of traditional CO2 lasers without any downtime. A CoolPeel treatment is an in-office procedure that doesn’t hurt or cut the skin and works on the top layer of the skin. It gets rid of sun damage, fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, rosacea, large pores, and other skin problems to make the skin look smoother, healthier, younger, and more even-toned.

What is better about the Tetra CO2 Laser than other CO2 lasers?

CO2 lasers hurt or damage the skin to do their job. They take off the epidermis (the skin’s top layer) and heat the dermis (middle layer). This causes the dermis to make more collagen. As the epidermis heals and grows back, the skin looks smoother, clearer, and tighter. But because the top layer of skin is taken off, CO2 laser treatment usually means taking a week off.

The Tetra CO2 laser, which is the most modern and up-to-date CO2 laser, is used to do a CoolPeel treatment. The Tetra CO2 Laser is different because it uses a very short light pulse to send a lot of energy to the skin. This means that our licensed aesthetician can keep the damage to the top layer of skin to a minimum. There is also less heat buildup in the tissues around the skin and less heat that stays in the skin. Because of this, treatments with CoolPeel cause less redness, peeling, and flaking of the skin than treatments with traditional CO2 lasers. Also, CoolPeel uses a spray pattern that cuts the treatment time from 1 to 2 hours with traditional CO2 lasers to about 10 minutes with CoolPeel.

What should you expect from a CoolPeel treatment?

At your first consultation, our aesthetic provider will listen to your concerns and talk to you about the benefits of CoolPeel treatments. If you are a good candidate for CoolPeel, pictures of you “before” the treatment will be taken so that you can see how your skin changes. Before your CoolPeel appointment, you should try to stay out of the sun as much as possible. Our licensed aesthetician will also give you a list of medicines, like retinol and salicylic/glycolic acids, that you need to stop taking before your Tetra CO2 laser appointments.

The CoolPeel treatment only takes about ten to fifteen minutes. Our aesthetician will clean your skin and put a numbing cream on it. This will take about 30 minutes. The laser will be put on the area that needs to be treated. After that, your skin may be a little red and feel a little rough. For the first day or two, your skin may look like it has a slight sunburn on it. As it heals, it may also feel dry and scaly. You can lessen these effects by drinking lots of water, using a cooling mist spray, and staying out of the sun as much as you can.

What does it cost to use CoolPeel?

The price of a CoolPeel Tetra CO2 laser treatment can vary from place to place and depend on your skin type and how badly your skin is damaged. As a general guideline, CoolPeel costs $800.00 per treatment. Depending on what you want to get out of CoolPeel, you may need more than one treatment. Most people will need anywhere from two to three treatments.

CoolPeel FAQ

Is Tetra CO2 Laser CoolPeel right for me?

CoolPeel is a new kind of skin resurfacing treatment that doesn’t hurt or cut the skin. It is used to reduce the visible signs of aging and sun damage. Our aestheticians will talk to you about your skin problems and goals, then tell you if CoolPeel is right for you.

How soon can I go back to work after getting CoolPeel?

The best thing about CoolPeel treatments is that they can be changed so that you can take as much or as little time off as you want. In other words, the CoolPeel treatment can be made more or less harsh. If you don’t mind having a little more downtime, you can make the CoolPeel treatment more aggressive to get better results. On the other hand, the CoolPeel treatment can be turned down to a lower setting if you want to have little or no downtime.

How many times will I need CoolPeel?

The more aggressive your CoolPeel treatments, the fewer sessions you will need. Most of the time, less aggressive CoolPeel treatments take 3–4 sessions to get the same results as more aggressive ones. Most CoolPeel treatments are spaced out by 4 to 6 weeks to give the skin time to heal.

Is CoolPeel painful?

Treatments with CoolPeel don’t need any injections of anesthesia. Your doctor might use a numbing cream to make CoolPeel less painful. Most patients do well during the procedure and feel little to no pain.

How soon will I see results from using CoolPeel? How long are they going to last?

Within 10 days of using CoolPeel, you will see a big change in how your skin looks. As the deeper layers of your skin continue to heal over the next 3–6 months, you will continue to see progress from CoolPeel. CoolPeel’s effects can last for years, depending on your age, skin type, and skin condition.

Will I need to do something different with my skincare after CoolPeel?

After a CoolPeel treatment, your skin may feel dry and a little rough (like sandpaper) for a few days. Our aesthetics team may suggest that you use some skin care on the treated area for a few days to keep the skin from drying out. For comfort, you can also use a cool spray that mists.

For the first week after getting CoolPeel, it’s best to stay out of the sun and stay away from workouts that make you sweat a lot.

While your skin is healing from the CoolPeel treatment, you should use a gentle cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen. You can exfoliate your skin after the first week. Also, don’t wear any makeup for the first 24 hours. After that, you can use mineral makeup that lets your skin breathe.
